Mother
In All Its Forms

Mother.
Motherhood.
Mothering.
Everyone is connected to mother.
For without her, we could not have accessed the portal to arrive here. And without her womb, her heart and her labour we would not have survived.
Mothers are exceptional, human, special, complicated, flawed, beautiful, and absolutely essential.
Motherhood is chosen, granted, sacred, challenging, expansive, important, and probably the hardest job.
Mothering is protective, nurturing, guiding, supportive, warmth and a frequency of birthing new creation.
As a rule, we (society) have a complex relationship to this kind of divinity. We appreciate mothers, but we suppress women. We police reproductive rights but we shame reproductive parts. We are conditional and confused but hopeful and wandering. We are such a strange species.
One thing remains absolutely true – if you have been blessed with a good mother, today you must be good to her. If you have ever been shown grace, today you should show her grace too. If you have become a mother, today you should be nurtured in return. If you have lost a mother, today you can take some time to remember her.
Sometimes we do not have a mother, but have friends and aunties who take time to mother us when we are in need. This is special too.
Sometimes we have a mother wound, but this pain is what propels us to our purpose.. This is powerful too.
Sometimes we wish to be a mother, but our opportunity has not yet arrived. This is a precious love too.
Mother is a great divine force, that holds us and moulds us in whatever shape it can. It is a love source that cannot be denied. And it all of its forms, in all its stories, it is worthy and valid of acknowledgement today.
Have a good Mother’s Day!
‘til next Sunday!
